Check out the sound team behind the game Halo: Reach, Bungie Studios Audio Director and Composer Marty O’Donnell and Sound Designers C Paul Johnson and Jay Weinland discuss how they created the sound for the game and the extensive work it takes to sound design a blockbuster video game.

The game takes place in the year 2552, where humanity is locked in a war with the alien Covenant. Players control Noble Six, a member of an elite supersoldier squad, during the battle for the world of Reach. As the Covenant begin their assault on the planet, the UNSC begin their heroic yet ultimately futile effort to repel the alien invaders.

Reach grossed $200 million in first day of sales and a staggering $350 million worth of merchandise in its first sixteen days. Here’s an inside look at all the work they put into the sound portion of the project.
