Alive Inside: New Documentary Shows How The Power Of Music Re-Energizes The Spirit Of The Elderly

Alive Inside is a new documentary by filmmaker Michael Rossato-Bennett which explores how music can help motivate and re-energize the spirits of the elderly, especially those afflicted with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

In this preview of the film, we meet a man named Henry who has been living in a nursing home for 10 years. Henry’s reaction upon listening to some of his favorite music is priceless and as neurologist and author Dr. Oliver Sacks points out, listening to music seems to put the life back into his body.

The power of music is truly amazing.

Check out MusicAndMemory.org for more information about how Music and Memory can help elderly patients, or to volunteer or donate an iPod [new or used].

Alive Inside will premiere in New York City at the Rubin Museum Wednesday April 18th with additional screenings Friday April 20th – Saturday April 21st.
