Take a listen to this podcast from Studio 360 and learn about the world of computational creativity, artificial intelligence systems that are creating art with the help of their programmers of course.
Meet BRUTUS, a piece of software created to write fiction created by programmer Selmer Bringsjord of Rensselaer Polytechnic, an artificial neural network called the Creativity Machine by Stephen Thaler, the world’s first cybernetic artist named AARON that has been creating paintings since 1972 and an ‘algorithmic noir’ film called White on White by filmmaker Eve Sussman which was put together by an algorithm she named the ‘serendipity machine’ which has assembled all the video and audio footage to create the movie’s edit.
After listening to the podcast, check out a trailer for the film White on White and then take a quiz to see if you can you tell the difference between art created by a human and art created by a computer.
Wise up humans! We’ve got competition!
