[DC] October 28th-29th: Future of Music Summit 2013

shockleewebpic_FMCsummit2013The Future of Music Summit 2013 takes place in Washington, DC on October 28-29, 2013. Organized by the Future of Music Coalition, this year’s conference will discuss how to improve the music ecosystem and marks the 12th annual event, which will again be held at Georgetown University.

The Future of Music Coalition is a national non-profit education, research and advocacy organization that seeks a bright future for creators and listeners. FMC works towards this goal through continuous interaction with its primary constituency — musicians — and in collaboration with other creator/public interest groups

This year’s summit will include:

-Presentations and keynotes by government officials, musicians and advocates
-How proposed changes to copyright law may impact musicians
-The ins-and-outs of digital business models and revenue generation
-Data and the artist experience
-Why public policy matters to local cultural communities around the globe
-How musicians are advancing positive social change
-Roundtable discussions, parties, networking and the inaugural Future of Music Coalition Honors celebration

In order to ensure musicians are not left out of conversations that affect their livelihoods, Future of Music Coalition offers artist scholarships for the Summit so they can attend, learn, and network and share perspectives. The scholarship allows musicians to attend the Future of Music Summit on a sliding scale basis, starting at $25.

Check out the full schedule for more. The summit will also be live streamed so be sure to tune in.
