shockwebpic_newwaveofiraqicinemaIn this short profile by the Creators Project we are shown the determination to create as we are taken inside war torn Baghdad where rising Iraqi filmmakers such as Mohamed Al-Daradji and Yahya Al Allaq are leading a new film movement that is getting recognition despite their challenges of limited resources and life threatening environments.

The Creators Project explores Baghdad’s burgeoning independent film scene, meeting two of its leading directors, Mohamed Al-Daradji [Son of Babylon] and Yahya Al Allaq [War Canister]. In our video, we see how these filmmakers are producing films despite the desolate industry, using real locations, non-professional actors and improvised dialogue.
