Adam Yauch also known as MCA of the Beastie Boys has passed away today at age 47 after a battle with cancer. The Beastie Boys started out as a hardcore punk band in 1979 and released their EP Polly Wog Stew in 1982. Their debut album Licensed to Ill was released via Def Jam in 1986, the label’s second album and by then, the Beastie’s were experimenting with hip hop.
