The Making Of The Big Sound Of Interstellar
The SoundWorks crew explores the sound of Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film Interstellar. First, a video interview with supervising sound editor and sound designer Richard King about the mix, sound design and foley aspects. To follow that, a conversation with composer Hans Zimmer about the very intentional approach to the sound, his collaboration with the crew and how they recorded a pipe organ at the Temple Church in London.

The orchestral meets synthetic sound continues to gain popularity in Hollywood, where recent movies like The Dark Knight Rises, Divergent and most recently Transcendence show that the major motion picture industry has been bit by the electronic music bug. Design FX: Creating A Zero-G Battle Room For Ender’s Game
A signature sequence in Gavin Hood’s newest film Ender’s Game is the zero-G battle room, a place where the titular character played by Asa Butterfield trains in space. Hoping to create a sense of weightlessness, the filmmakers shot actors in a mix of harnesses and on wires against a greenscreen set.
